Sonic the Hedgehog

Does anyone remember the cartoon Sonic the Hedgehog? You know, the character with the spiky hair? Well, that's our nickname for Lily. As you can see, her hair loves to spike out all over her head. It has a mind of its own!

Lily's First Swim

We decided to take Lily swimming since she loves her bath time so much. Not to mention we had this darling swimsuit for her to wear. We couldn't let the summer pass without her trying it on at least once!

Check out those sunglasses!

Her first toe-in was less than successful as you can see from the frowny face she is making.

She got used to having her feet in after awhile, but anytime I tried to put her in more she gave me a good squawk.

She enjoyed being outside in the sunshine!

Posing with Grandma...look at her cute little tongue!

We'll have to try swimming again when the water is a little warmer. She was much happier once she was snuggled up in her cozy towel.

Two Little Froggies

Lily loves this cute little sleeper Grandma Aston got her. It is yellow (my favorite!) with little frogs and LILYpads! I wish you could see them better in the picture. After I got her ready for bed I crept downstairs for a midnight snack. There's nothing like leftover Frog Eye Salad! Yum! I had to laugh when I realized that Lily was wearing frogs and I was eating them. We were two little froggies!

One Month Old

Our sweet little Lily is one month old today! In so many ways, that is hard to believe. The time has passed quickly and she is growing and changing all the time!

Tyler and I have been writing down things we love and want to always remember about Lily. I wish I had a picture for every one of them! Something we can work on! Luckily, our photographer did capture a few. Here are some of those silly things:
  • Her crazy hair after she takes a bath
  • The way she squawks

  • How much she loves to hear her mommy and daddy sing
  • The milk mustache she gets from eating so wildly
  • Her quivering chin
  • How daddy has to pump her arm up and down to keep her awake while she eats
  • Her dark blue eyes
  • How she sleeps with her bum in the air like a stink bug

  • The way she purses her perfect little lips
  • Her big smiles at any given moment
  • Her high-pitched sighs after she coughs or sneezes
  • How she stretches when you get her out of her car seat or bassinet (Tyler likes her body, I love her face!)
  • Her long turtle-like neck and how ticklish it is
It's all these things that make the sleepless nights worth it! We have loved watching Lily grow and can't wait for all the new things we can add to our list!

Our Sweet Little Lily

Lily Ann was born Saturday, May 14 at 10:34 a.m. after a relatively short labor. Everything went quite well. We knew we were in labor by about midnight and made it to the hospital around 2:30 a.m. The rest of the night was kind of a blur until it was time to begin pushing around 8:00 a.m. Tyler was a big help to me in the delivery room. He was the ideal birthing coach! He was confident and positive the whole way through. Tyler's family (Grandma and Grandpa Gwilliam, Uncle Landon, and Aunt Lauren and Uncle Richie) came to the hospital while I was in labor. It was sweet to know they were in the waiting room cheering us on. My mom arrived the afternoon Lily was born and my dad arrived late that evening. We are so lucky to have such a great support group! Lily was 8 pounds 6 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect baby! She is healthy and beautiful and we are so happy to have her in our family!

Tyler's Exams

We are excited to announce that Tyler passed his Masters Exams!!! Wahoo! He has been studying like crazy for several weeks and it sure paid off! Such a wonderful event surely calls for a celebration, so we had a little fun!

I decided I wanted to make him a poster, blow up some balloons and hang some streamers. The poster was easy enough (although it did push my artistic abilities), but after I bought the streamers and balloons I realized it was going to be a little tricky for someone in my condition (8 MONTHS ALONG!!!) to blow up 30 balloons and hang streamers. What was I thinking?

Gratefully a couple of my voice students and their mother willingly helped me! Didn't they do a cute job?

Tyler was shocked when he got home. His first two questions were, "When did you have time to do all of this?" followed quickly by, "You didn't stand on any chairs, did you?!?".

I got him two of his favorite treats to show him how proud I was of him---a Dr. Pepper and a caramel apple. He is easy to please!

We are so relieved to have this behind us! I am sure Tyler is happier than I am! I never doubted his abilities...he is one smart cookie!
